Hot tub & outside
Two floors,
two outsides
A terrace upstairs with the outdoor kitchen and the view, a landscaped courtyard downstairs with the hot tub, and a spiral staircase joining them.
The terrace
Where the evening happens
The first-floor terrace runs off the living space with bi-fold doors opening on both sides, so inside and outside stop being separate. There is a dining area, seating, and a view down over Port Hamble Marina and the river beyond.
The outdoor kitchen is built in properly: a charcoal Egg grill set into granite work surfaces, with its own prep space and seating. Guests keep mentioning it by name, unprompted, which is unusual for a barbecue.
The courtyard
Sheltered, planted, private
Down at ground level, a fully fenced Mediterranean courtyard — pale paving, olive trees in terracotta, grasses and ferns. Three of the four bedrooms open straight onto it through patio doors.
Sun loungers, outdoor furniture, and the hot tub set into the paving rather than parked on it. The spiral stair from the terrace means you are never walking through the house in a wet robe.
The hot tub
Hot when you arrive, not hours later
Emptied, cleaned and refilled between every booking — and brought up to temperature before you get here. So the tub is ready from the moment you arrive, not something to wait out on your first evening. Fresh water and no waiting is a harder combination to arrange than it sounds, and it is the reason we do the changeover the way we do.
Water chemistry is tested and logged before every arrival. If anything is not right when you get here, tell us and it is dealt with the same day.
- Keep the cover on when you are not using it — it holds the heat
- No glass on the paving around the tub
- Keep noise to a minimum, particularly late — sound carries here
- Please supervise children closely, and keep the cover on when it is not in use
- Not after heavy drinking, for reasons that need no elaboration
